St. Francis of Assisi and Animal Day

This week, me and my son, saw the movie about Gandhi, and for those that didn't know, his birthday is on the 2 of October.

Gandhi was one of those rare souls that sometimes arise and because of their grandeur and capacity for sacrifice, embarrass us!

One of Gandhi quotes is: “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated.” … brings to mind the greatness of our nation …

This week, on the 4 of October, we celebrate St. Francis of Assisi and Animal day !

 St. Francis of Assisi

St. Francis of Assisi was dear to my father and he always said that when he would dye it was to his heavenly garden he would go to help St. Francis of Assisi to take care of the animals over there, so it is where I imagine my father soul.

For those that don’t know St. Francis of Assisi, he was a man that was born in a very rich family and along his live path decided to dedicate his life to the church and animals. He defended the ideal of a brotherhood that would integrate men with nature and animals.
For him each living being was an expression of God kindness and to love an animal was to love God and his creation.

This year, I lost one of my oldest friend, that was with me since the beginning of my adult life. To her as to the rest of my lost four leg family, I dedicate my memory and prays.

World biggest dog 2013

World biggest dog 2013
Frankly I do not see myself owning a dog bigger than my Golden Retriever because I measure my skills in owning, with the ability to handle him or pick him up.

Imagine that for whatever reason we have to take the dog on our lap? if faint, sick, getting hurt or any other reason.

Well it is on these occasions that I wonder how the people who have the greatest dog in the world work that out.

World biggest dog 2013

The Guinness World Records 2013 recognize a Great Dane named Zeus as the world biggest dog.

The dog measures 1.12 me and on his behind legs may reach 2.26 m and weighs 70 kg. He lives in the town of Otsego, Michigan.

Animals forbiden on the beaches

On the other day a saw a news that the maritime police was passing fines to the owners that take their dogs to the beaches.

In spite I being a believer that all laws should be follows by everyone, I am in total disagreement with this law. One thing was to oversee the owners complied with the basic rules of hygiene, which should indeed be meat anywhere in the public streets, another is to fine people that take their companions.

Many argue that dogs are a risk to public health, forgetting that the greatest risk to public health are the very people who leave their trash, and yes, let the children, when they do not do themselves, relieve on the beaches . One day someone will explain were animals are worst then people.

Fact is, people that have their pets, should be responsible for them in all places. Now to forbid people that obey the law and follow the rules to be with their four leg friends it isn’t right.

And yes, those that follow the rules and like animals have the some right that everyone else.
